p3b science(chapter 9)

title:life cycles
-all living things go through a cycle called life cycle.
-living things are hatched or born, they grow bigger and older, before they finally die
-egg->chick->adult chicken
-a pattern repeats itself over and over again is a cycle
-a life cycle is made up of a number of stages of growth.

chapter 9(p3a science)

-there are different kinds of materials.some common examples are metals, plastics, rubber, wood and glass.
-for things to be useful, suitable materials must be chosen to make them.

p3a science (chapter 9)

title:materials
-materials can naturally obtained from plants ,animals or the ground.they can also be man-made.
-there are different kinds of materials.some common examples are metals, plastics, rubber, wood and glass
-for things to be useful ,suitable materials must be chosen to make them

P3A SCIENCE

title:fungi and micro-organisms
-mushroom belongs to a group of living things called fungi.
-fungi are not plants
-fungi feed on plants and animals -dead or alive
-they aslo feed on things that are made from plants or animals.
-fungi break down their food inot simple substances that they can absorb.when they do so,they cause their food to decay.
-mould is a type of fungus.it feeds on a lot of food we eat
-it breaks down the food first and then absorbs the nutrient
-fungi reproduce by reproducing spores
-in mushrooms, the spores are foumd in the gills.
-mushrooms function:gills,cao and stalk
-when a fungus realeases its spores, the wind carries them in the air.
-some of these spores land on suitable places and they grow into new fungi.
-tiny living things are called micro organisms.
-<> means tiny. means living things
-fungi reproduces by spores.

p3a science(chapter 6)classification of plants

-plants which produce flowers are called flowering plants
-plants that do not produce flowers are called non-flowering plants
-plants are classified into flowering adn non-flowering plants
-examples of non flowering plants are ferns and mosses

p3a science(chapter 5)life around us-plants

-plants need air,water to grow.
-plants can make thier own food.this is because plants have chlorophyll.
-animals do not have chlorophyll.they cannot make their own food.they have to depend on other living things for food.
-roots are usually found under the ground.
-some plants are found above the ground.
-plants with tall, thick and woody stems are called trees.
-the main stem of a tree is called the trunk.
-the trunk is covered by an outer covering called the bark.
-leaves of different plants are different in size ,shape and texture
-some flowers grow singly
-some flowers grow in clusters.
-a fruit is th epart of a plant that has developed from a flower.
-plants grow just about everywhere, from deep in water to high up on other plants.
-plants that grow on land are called land plants.
-plants that grow in water are called water plants
-some water plants grow completely underwater
-some float on the surface of water.
-some are half-submerged,they have some parts in water and other parts out of water.
-plants grow in different places.
-plant parts may look different in different plants
-plants grow in different places.
-chlorophyll gives plant their green colour
-plants are made up of plant parts.these are the roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits.
-some plants are short and bushy.they have thinner stems than trees.these plants are called shrubs.

P3A SCIENCE (CHAPTER 4)

TITLE:CLASSIFICATION OF ANIMALS
-MAMMALS,BIRDS,FISHES AND INSECTS ARE SOME COMMON GROUPS OF ANIMALS.
-MAMMALS ARE THE ONLY ANIMALS WITH HAIR ON THEIR BONES AND THEY FEED THEIR BABIES THE MOTHER'S MILK
-MOST MAMMALS GIVE BIRTH TO THEIR YUONG,THERE ARE TWO MAMMALS WHICH LAY EGGS.THEY ARE THE SPINY-ANTEATER AND THE PLATYPUS.
-BIRDS ARE THE ONLY ANIMALS WITH FEATHERS.
-ALL BIRDS HAVE A BEAK,TWO WINGS AND TWO LEGS
-ALL BIRDS LAY EGGS.EACH EGG IS PROTECTED BY A HARDSHELL.ALL BIRDS HAVE WINGS,BUT NOT ALL BIRDS CAN FLY
-ALL FISHES LIVE IN WATER.SOME LIVES IN SALT WATER.SOME LIVE IN FRESH WATER .ALL FISHES HAVE FINS TO HELP THEM BREATHE .
-THE BODIES OF MOST FISHES ARE COVERED WITH SCALES.
-SOME FISHES SUCH AS THE GOLDFISH AND THE ANGELFISH REPRODUCE BY LAYING EGGS.OTHERS SUCH AS THE GUPPY GIVE BIRTH TO THEIR YOUNG.
-INSECTS CAN BE EASILY IDENTIFIED BY THE NUMBER OF LEGS THEY HAVE.INSECTS HAVE SIX LEGS.
-THE BODY OF AN INSECT ARE HEAD,THORAX AND ABOMEN.FEELERS ARE FOUND ON THE HEAD.
-WINGS AND LEGS ARE FOUND ON THE THORAX.
-A HARD OUTER COVERING PROTECTS THE INSECT'S SOFT BODY AND GIVES THE INSECT ITS SHAPE.
-INSECTS WITH TWO PAIRS OF WINGS
BUTTERFLY,DRAGONFLY
-AN INSECT REPRODUCES BY LAYING EGGS.

P3A SCIENCE

LIFE AROUND US -ANIMALS
-ALL ANIMALS FEED ON OTHER LIVING THINGS.
-WAYS IN WHICH ANIMALS MAY BE DIFFERENT
.THEIR SIZES,SHAPES AND COLOURS
.WHERE THEY LIVE
.HOW THEY MOVE
.THEIR OUTER COVERINGS
.WHAT THEY EAT
.HOW THEY REPRODUCE
.SOME ANIMALS LIVE ON LAND.SOME LIVE DEEP DOWN IN THE GROUND.OTHERS LIVE ON THE GROUND.
-SOME ANIMALS CAN ONLY LIVE IN WATER.OTHERS LIVE ON THE GROUND.
-FROGS AND TURTLES CAN LIVE BOTH ON LAND AND WATER.
-ANIMALS HAVE DIFFERENT OUTER COVERING ON THEIR SKIN
-LION,ORANG UTAN AND BADGER HAVE AN OUTER COVERINGS OF HAIR
-SNAKE,FISH AND LIZARDS HAVE AN OUTER COVERINGS OF SCALES
-CRABS,TORTOISE AND LOBSTER HAVE AN OUTER COVERING OF SHELL.
-THE SWAN,PARAKEET AND KINGFISHER HAVE AN OUTER COVERINGS OF FEATHERS
-THE OUTER COVERINGS PROTECT THE ANIMALS FROM INJURY OR KEEP THEM WARM.
-THE OUTER COVERING OF FEATHERS ALSO HELPS THEM TO FLY.

-THE CATERPILLAR,HIPPOPOTAMUS AND GIRAFFES EAT ONLY PLANTS

P3A SCIENCE(CHAPTER 2)

CLASSIFYING THINGS
-PUT THINGS AROUND YOU INTO GROUPS IS CALLED CLASSIFICATION.
-LIVING THINGS CAN BE CLASSIFIED INTO FOUR GROUPS ANIMALS PLANTS FUNGI AND MICRO-ORGANISMS
-THINGS IN THE SAME GROUP ARE SIMILLAR IN SOME WAYS

P3A SCIENCE(CHAPTER 1)

TITLE:LIVING AND NON LIVING THINGS
-DIVERSITY IS A GREAT VARIETY OF THINGS AROUND US
-THINGS AROUND YOU ARE EITHER LIVING OR NON LIVING
-LIVING THINGS ARE THINGS THAT ARE ALIVE
-ANIMALS AND PLANTS ARE LIVING THINGS
-NON LIVING THINGS ARE THINGS THAT ARE NOT ALIVE
-SOME LIVING THINGS PRETEND TO BE NON-LIVING THINGS.A STONE FISH ,FOR EXAMPLE,LOOKS LIKE A STONE WHEN IT IS NOT MOVING.
-LIVING THING NEED AIR,WATER AND FOOD TO STAY ALIVE
-LIVING THINGS DIE QUICKLY WITHOUT AIR OR WATER.THEY CAN LIVE FOR SOME TIME WITHOUT FOOD.AFTER A WHILE THEY DIE.
NON LIVING THINGS DOES NOT NEED AIR ,FOOD AND WATER.
-AS LIVING THINGS BECOME OLD,PARTS OF THEIR BODIES DO NOT WORK WELL AS BEFORE.WHEN IMPORTANT PARTS FAIL TO WORK,LIVING THINGS DIE.
-LIVING THINGS ARE SPECIAL IN THEIR OWN WAYS.SO ARE NON LIVING THINGS.IN OTHER WORDS,THEY HAVE THEIR OWN CHARACTERISTIC.
LIVING THINGS
-NEED AIR FOOD AND WATER
-GROW
-MOVE BY THEMSELVES
-RESPOND TO CHANGES AROUND THEM
-DIE
-REPRODUCE
NON LIVING THINGS
-DO NOT NEED AIR FOOD AND WATER
-GO NOT GROW
-DO NOT MOVE BY THEMSELVES
-DO NOT RESPOND TO CHANGES AROUND THEM
-DO NOT DIE
-DO NOT REPRODUCE
